The PROTHERM cable system no longer needs to connect back to the thermostat. A space for the return of the cable is no longer required due to a new technology. The circumference of the cable only varies between 1/8” to 1/6” (3 mm to 4 mm) which will not necessarily elevate the level of the floor. The spacing strips are now included in the kit.
Electromagnetic fields
Although it has never been proven, some believe that the electromagnetic fields could have a bad influence on people’s health. Thus, upon the conception of our heating cables, we have ensured to limit the electromagnetic fields emitted by the system.
It is now 2000 times less strong (0.5mGauss) than a cable with only one conductor (your computer screen emits 14mGauss at 15 cm from the screen, which is 30 times more; an electric razor emits 100mGauss at 15 cm).
It is important to know that the electromagnetic waves that are generated tend to decrease considerably as the cable is farther apart as well as with the decrease of the power for the types of cable that cover less surface.
New standard CSA C22.2 #130-03
Starting on January 1st 2010, CSA heating cable manufacturers will now have to meet new impact standards as described in the standard CSA C22.2 #130-03, otherwise the cable will not be CSA approved. CSA is thus a quality standard.
